  • The number of days you spend on the trail will, to a large extent, depend on budget and your fitness. We'd recommend a minimum of four to five days so that you don't have to rush and can explore some of the off-trail opportunities. There are some great off trail opportunities like curling, single track riding in Naseby, exploring the gold heritage in Poolburn and St Bathans, getting out the back on a 4WD trip, playing some golf on some great little courses, trying your hand at a bit of fly fishing. So, if you're in the area, consider what else you might do.

    To help us better advise you about how to split the journey up and the number of days on the trail, please select the items that apply to the fitness of your group. If you have any special requirements then select the "Other - I want to describe the fitness of my group" and type in your comments.
  • Currently 75% of people start at Clyde because a) more accommodation options are available for the first night b) the prevailing wind is the nor wester so if it is windy then you'll spend more time with it at your back.

    Your luggage can follow you around without having to carry it on your bike

    Note that bag weights are limited to 15 kg per bag by the bag transporter. Typically you'd have one bag per adult
  • Bike hire

    Do you need bike hire or panniers
  • Trunk bags are the lighter carry bag option that fits on the top of the pannier rack with zip out expansion. They have enough capacity for what you'd need during the day. See our bike hire page for more information shebikeshebikes.co.nz/bike-hire
  • Pannier bags are the larger carry bags that go on the side of the pannier racks. They're the best option if you're not having luggage transported or you're going to be carrying some of the children's gear. See our bike hire page for more information shebikeshebikes.co.nz/bike-hire
  • We provide comfortable saddles on our bikes, but if you feel like you need something more then gel seat covers are available for hire (kids bikes get gel seat covers by default)
